Activities and Events Resume, Signaling a Return to Normal

June 23, 2021

In light of recent relaxations to COVID-19 protocols, residents and staff at La Posada are cautiously optimistic as the community begins to open up and things begin to return to pre-pandemic norms.

For many residents, now is the first time in more than a year that they finally feel confident about gathering together to enjoy all that the community has to offer and get back into the swing of an active lifestyle.

La Posada’s full-service senior living affords an enriched lifestyle, and the resort-style community is happy to give residents access to all of the community’s amenities again, including chef-prepared meals, concierge services, state-of-the-art wellness programs and so much more.Couple having at the one of community restaurants as things return to normal.

According to La Posada’s wellness director, Rick Minichino, the community adapted its services and programs during the pandemic to allow residents to stay engaged and connected socially – including things like outdoor, socially distanced exercise classes at the community and ZOOM meetings with families and loved ones. While that helped, explained Minichino, it can’t beat the feeling residents are experiencing post-vaccination with the ability to socialize in person and largely forego masks once again.

With this return to normal, the wellness staff resumed a focus on developing new and unique programming to engage residents and improve their overall health and well-being. Recent additions include unique activities such as cardio drumming and ever the social favorite, cornhole.

Programs like these encourage physical activity and keep people socially engaged – and they’re fun! After more than a year of social distancing, and in some cases isolation, activities like these are reassuring residents that there’s positive change in the air and allowing them to relax and enjoy themselves once again.

La Posada Executive Director Brad Cadiere says that since the vaccination clinics at the community have been so successful, residents are finally ready to enjoy these kinds of fun social activities again. Everyone on the staff is proud that residents feel safe and secure enough to resume life as normal, and they’re thrilled to see everyone going to classes and gathering for meals – there’s a palpable sense of hope and eagerness for the days ahead.

It’s not just physical wellness programming that are starting to return to normal, community events and lifestyle activities also have residents buzzing. La Posada recently hosted its annual Ladies Tea in celebration of the incredible female residents who call the community home. More than 75 of the women who live at La Posada gathered together on the terrace for afternoon tea and treats, enabling friends to gather and celebrate one another while enjoying a delicious meal.
