[et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text”]Each year, Veterans Day is a special opportunity to pay tribute to those who served our country and those who continue to serve today. It’s for this reason that La Posada, a Kisco senior living community in Palm Beach Gardens, recently honored it’s veteran residents through a partnership with the Jupiter High School JROTC. This special intergenerational celebration displayed the importance of recognizing the sacrifices of those who served our country.

The day began with JROTC leading a ceremonial presentation of the colors for those in attendance. La Posada’s veterans then took time to share their personal stories, allowing attendees the opportunity to hear a firsthand account of what it means to serve. Residents shared details of war and peace, providing context on the brutalities of war and expressing the importance of paying tribute to those who have and continue to serve.

“There are no thanks adequate for the sacrifice made by our service members and their families,” said Rick Minichino, wellness director at La Posada. “It’s imperative that we continue to find ways to remind ourselves of these sacrifices and do what we can to show our appreciation. At La Posada we are always seeking opportunities to celebrate our residents and Veterans Day is just one such way we do so.”

One such example of how La Posada is continuing to highlight the importance of Veterans Day it through the creation of the community’s “Veterans Wall,” which features a photo of each veteran at the community along with a brief detailing of their military service. The wall is a unique opportunity to provide ongoing recognition for the service of those veterans living at the community each day.

To close the community’s Veterans Day observance, La Posada hosted musical harmony group, The Victory Dolls for a special performance. The musical act performed a variety of classic songs reminiscent of the classic performances from the Andrews Sisters. Those in attendance  enjoyed the opportunity to sing and dance along, celebrating the true meaning of the day. The intent for the entire celebration was to create a multifaceted environment designed to promote and improve each resident’s knowledge of others life experiences. This commitment to community is something that defines La Posada’s enriched lifestyle and one-of-a-kind programming.[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column]
